Job Description
Apollo Solar Energy has spent the last 10 years doing something we genuinely believe in: helping Colorado and Wyoming homeowners and businesses make the switch to clean, affordable solar. We're locally owned and operated, B Corporation Certified, and proud of the reputation we've built - one installation, one happy customer, one empowered team member at a time. We're not just selling solar panels. We're helping people save money, reduce their carbon footprint, and take back control of their energy future. If that mission excites you, keep reading. This is a role for someone who thrives in the middle of the action. As our Solar Project Manager, you're the thread connecting our customers, our installation crews, local jurisdictions, utility companies, and everything in between. You take a signed contract and shepherd it - step by step - through permits, procurement, scheduling, installation, inspections, and final commissioning. You're the reason projects don't fall through the cracks, and the reason customers look back and say 'that was seamless.' You lead people, manage timelines, and solve problems before most people know they exist. You're organized and relentless - and you lead with warmth. Our current PM is moving out-of-state and we need a successor to take the reins. You will train with him for 1-4 weeks under the supervision of the CEO. Why This Work Matters Solar isn’t just an industry - it’s a movement. Every project you manage helps a family or a business save money on energy bills for decades. Every system you see through to commissioning reduces carbon emissions in a real, measurable way. At Apollo Solar Energy, the work is tangible: it powers people’s homes, lowers their bills, and moves our communities toward a cleaner future. As Project Manager, you sit at the center of all of it. When a customer gets permission to operate their solar system, you had a hand in making that happen from the very first step. A Week in the Life No two weeks look exactly the same - that’s part of what makes this role exciting. But here’s a flavor of what your days often look like: you’re reviewing open projects in our Production Dashboard, following up on permit applications, and lining up the installation schedule for the week. You’re calling a homeowner to prep them for their inspection, then chatting with a team member to see how their life is and how the install went. An upset client needs attention, we failed an inspection, and the crew’s truck has a flat - sometimes there will be less fun days. You’re reviewing a plan set to make sure everything checks out before the crew is scheduled. You’re troubleshooting a utility delay - making calls, adjusting the schedule, keeping everyone calm and informed. You update the Production financial forecast, analyze project budgets, and sell an inverter replacement in between. And at some point this week, a customer is going to call - elated - to say their system just turned on and they loved the crew. You’ll know you had everything to do with that. Responsibilities Own the full project lifecycle - from signed contract to Permission to Operate - managing permits, procurement, scheduling, installation, inspections, and final commissioning. If you delegate any of these tasks, they are still your responsibility to oversee. Maintain thorough, accurate project records - contracts, inspections, budget tracking, site photos, and completion paperwork are all yours to own. Pursue AHJ approvals, utility permits, and stakeholder sign-offs relentlessly - a project sitting in a queue costs the company and the customer. Build and maintain the weekly installation schedule, coordinating across crews, subcontractors, property owners, and inspectors to keep every project on track. Hire, onboard, coach, and hold accountable your team of installers and subcontractors - and when necessary, make tough personnel decisions. Lead regular team meetings and performance reviews; use customer feedback to drive continuous improvement - and genuinely celebrate every win. To test your attention to detail, write "sunshine" as the answer to the last screening question. Ensure every team member and subcontractor is properly trained and oriented before setting foot on a job site - and invested in ongoing development. Review solar plan sets prior to each installation to confirm accuracy and flag any issues before the crew arrives on site. Resolve concerns from customers, employees, and subcontractors quickly and fairly - balancing exceptional service with sound business judgment. Be the primary point of contact for customers throughout their entire project - communicating proactively by phone, email, and text, sometimes outside normal business hours. Priori
