Overview Join Larimer County’s Solid Waste Department as a Solid Waste Team Lead! In this leadership role, you will assist the supervisor with planning, organizing, coordinating, and reviewing the daily work of Solid Waste staff. This position works alongside the team while leading landfill operations related to the safe placement, spreading, compacting, and covering of trash and solid waste. The Solid Waste Team Lead helps ensure efficient operations, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and high-quality service for the community. Responsibilities What you'll be doing: Operates heavy equipment used at a landfill in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner; operates equipment such as compactor, track loader, dozer, road grader, scraper, water truck, and tandem dump truck. Excavates fill dirt and stockpile various commodities. Blades and grades access roads; pushes snow; levels fill dirt over trash platform. Inspects equipment for broken, missing, or worn parts; performs routine maintenance on equipment. Pioneers and reclaims cut areas; removes and hauls dirt from high hills and banks. Builds and maintains roadways at the landfill and fills low spots. Plows snow; performs snow and ice control activities. Sets up and operates grade checking equipment, laser, and instrument. What we're looking for Knowledge of the principles and practices of heavy equipment operation. Experience with construction and earthwork related to road realignment projects. Knowledge of the construction, repair, and maintenance of roadside drainage systems. Understanding of safe work practices and work zone traffic safety procedures. Ability to accurately read and interpret plans and specifications. Ability to safely and effectively operate heavy equipment. Qualifications All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process. High school diploma or GED required. Three (3) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required. Possession of, and ability to maintain, a Colorado Class "B" CDL Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsements without "K" or "NTT" restrictions by date of hire required. Possession of, and ability to maintain, a DOT Medical Certificate by date of hire required. Supplemental Information Please Note: The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime may be required as needed.
