The Homeport Restaurant & Oyster Bar is a beloved Martha’s Vineyard institution, recently revitalized by The Aquitaine Group while preserving over 90 years of history. Our 150‑seat seaside restaurant celebrates the essence of Vineyard summers. Simple, elegant dishes crafted with impeccable technique and the finest local ingredients. Guests enjoy sunsets over the ocean from our waterfront patio, surrounded by the beauty and bounty of the island. We partner closely with renowned local farms and purveyors including Morning Glory Farm, North Tabor Farm, and Beetlebung Farm to highlight the freshest local proteins, produce, and seafood the island has to offer. We’re seeking an experienced Sous Chef to help lead kitchen operations this season (May- September) and ensure consistent excellence across every station. This role is ideal for a hands-on culinary leader who thrives in service, develops strong teams, and upholds the highest standards of quality, organization, and cleanliness. Key Responsibilities Oversee the full kitchen staff day-to-day, ensuring station readiness, clear communication, and consistent execution. Support menu execution through recipe standardization, prep systems, and quality control. Lead during service. Expedite and work the line as needed to maintain pace, standards, and hospitality. Assist with kitchen operations including inventory control, organization, and vendor relationships. Maintain a strong culture of sanitation, safety, and cleanliness, aligned with Homeport’s standards and policies. What We’re Looking For Proven leadership in a quality-driven, high-volume kitchen environment (Sous Chef experience preferred). Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. A craft-focused cook who values simplicity, strong technique, and ingredient-driven cuisine.
