Job Description
Special Education Teacher - CEP Weymouth Public Schools is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our K–1 Communication Enhancement Program (CEP) at Wessagusset Primary School. This sub-separate program supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related communication and sensory needs within a school community that values neurodiversity, inclusion, and individualized student growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)-based instructional practices, proactive behavioral supports, and evidence-based strategies for students with communication and sensory regulation challenges. This educator will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide highly structured, engaging, and compassionate instruction that promotes communication, independence, social-emotional development, and access to the general education environment whenever appropriate. Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized, data-driven instruction aligned with student IEP goals Develop individualized program books when appropriate Utilize ABA methodologies and evidence-based practices to support academic, communication, behavioral, and social-emotional growth Create proactive classroom systems that address sensory and communication-based behavioral needs Collaborate closely with BCBAs, ABA support staff, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, related service providers, and families Foster meaningful inclusion opportunities and participation within the broader school community Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and monitor progress Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment that embraces neurodiversity and student strengths Participate actively in team meetings, consultation, and ongoing professional learning opportunities Qualifications: Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities PreK–8 or Severe Disabilities All Levels Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a sub-separate or therapeutic educational setting preferred Knowledge of ABA principles, discrete trial instruction, naturalistic teaching strategies, and positive behavioral supports Experience addressing behaviors related to communication and sensory regulation challenges Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills Commitment to inclusive practices and family-centered collaboration What Weymouth Public Schools Offers: Supportive leadership and collaborative team environment Mentorship opportunities for professional growth Ongoing professional development and training opportunities Tuition reimbursement Excellent benefits package Competitive salary commensurate with experience Wessagusset Primary School is committed to building an inclusive educational community where all students are valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
