What You Will Do: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Special Process Engineer to support our engine center in Bridgeport, WV. This role will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for critical special processes including heat treat, welding, cleaning, plasma coating, and shot peening, ensuring all processes meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical oversight and governance for special processes across the facility, including heat treat, welding, cleaning, plasma coating, and peening operations Serve as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned special processes and provide technical guidance to operations, quality, and engineering teams Ensure compliance with customer specifications, aerospace standards, NADCAP requirements, and internal procedures Lead and support internal and external audits related to special processes Investigate process escapes, nonconformances, and root cause corrective actions to reduce defects and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Develop, improve, and standardize systems, controls, and documentation to strengthen overall quality performance Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and leadership teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives Support qualification, validation, and approval activities for special processes and suppliers Analyze process performance data and recommend improvements to capability, consistency, and compliance Qualifications You Must Have Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of quality engineering experience within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or similar MRO environments, or an Advanced degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience Experience overseeing or supporting special processes in a regulated industry Qualifications We Prefer: Hands-on experience with heat treat, welding, plasma coatings, cleaning, and/or shot peening processes Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical standards, and process requirements Strong understanding of quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies Familiarity with aerospace industry standards including ASTM, AMS, and NADCAP requirements Experience supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) engine programs or engine MRO operations ASQ, Six Sigma, or related quality certifications are a plus What is my role type?
