Position Summary: Pipeline Operations Specialist at CountryMark’s Pipeline Control Center. The Pipeline Operations Specialists’ primary role is to provide support to CountryMark Pipeline Control Room personnel and Pipeline Control Center Supervisor through fulfilling the duties and responsibilities listed below. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following): Must be able to work 12 hr. shifts, including nights, overtime, weekends, holidays, and provide last minute/emergency coverage for time off in the Control Center as needed. Provide support with daily reporting documentation. Provide daily assistance to the Control Center which could include but not limited to CRM Plan support, P2P testing, regulatory documentation, operations procedures, and involvement with the SCADA system as required. Assist with all Control Room regulatory audits and inspections including assisting with documenting records for audits. Work with field technicians to provide support when performing testing or troubleshooting by using the SCADA system. Follows procedures to safely control and monitor pipeline systems during pipeline operations including start-up, shutdown, flow adjustments, and product changes. This position will work in conjunction with supervision to write and review operating procedures, ensuring that procedures are up to date and followed. Serve as the primary relief coverage for Pipeline Controllers and complete all controller responsibilities while on shift. Pipeline Controller Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following): Assist in alarm management, commissioning activities, as well as trouble shooting SCADA issues, and operational issues. Control, monitor, and analyze CountryMark’s liquid pipeline system’s operation simultaneously via SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software. Able to identify, respond, and react during pipeline emergencies. Control and monitor pressure, temperature and volume using SCADA system to ensure safe receipt and delivery of volumes. Analyze leak detection system and react to abnormal conditions in a proper manner. Monitor system performance and capacity, making proper notification of equipment needing repair or calibration. Monitor and analyze trends to react to abnormal conditions. Document events throughout the shift in a concise and articulate manner using POEMS and the Shift Handover to include what occurred, what may occur, and what future actions may be required and pass this information along to the following shift. Calculate pipeline movements including ETA’s for receiving terminals. Daily finished products pipeline inventory. Develop and distribute pipeline tender or batch notices. Alert maintenance personnel to maintenance issues. Communicate daily with field operations. Respond and react to Emergency 811 utility locates, monitor pipeline mapping to perform pipeline locates. Learn the POEMS CRM Suite and AVEVA Leak Detection System functionality and how to operate it as an Admin of the Software. Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent): Education: A High School Diploma is required. Experience: 3-5 years’ Pipeline Controller experience is preferred. Will consider candidates with a combination of technical experience and a relevant degree. Other: Must have basic math and analytical skills and the ability to quickly and accurately do calculations. Must possess basic computer skills and experience with a work order system is preferred. Must possess the ability to communicate both verbally and written in a diverse range of audiences and settings including but not limited to creating and presenting information to a group. Good knowledge of refinery operations and maintenance, chemical compounds, and hazardous materials. Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately. Analyze data from the SCADA system for basic troubleshooting. Attention to detail. Good time management skills, and ability to prioritize tasks, and follow-up on assignment. Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy. Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively. Active listening skills. Ability to establish working relationships
