Sports Card Buyback Operations Specialist Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sports Card Buyback Operations Specialist to join our growing team. This role is heavily focused on accurately comping and evaluating sports trading cards while managing the day-to-day operations of our buyback program. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of the sports card market, understands how to evaluate card value using recent sales data and market trends, and can confidently make pricing decisions in a fast-paced environment. In addition to card valuation, this role will support customer service, inventory organization, buyback processing, and operational workflows within a high-volume live breaking operation. This is an opportunity to work directly within one of the fastest-growing sectors of the collectibles industry while helping scale a rapidly expanding sports card business. Responsibilities Accurately comp and evaluate sports trading cards using recent sales data, market trends, and condition assessment Pull customer cards from live breaks and shows for buyback processing Track and manage all buyback submissions throughout the entire workflow process Research card values across multiple marketplaces and platforms to determine fair and competitive buyback pricing Send buyback offers to customers based on current market value and company pricing structure Process customer buyback submissions efficiently and accurately Verify card details including player, set, parallel, grading, numbering, autograph authenticity, and condition Process payouts for accepted customer buybacks accurately and efficiently Organize and prepare accepted buybacks for inventory systems, vault submissions, resale preparation, or storage Prep cards for inventory, shipping, vault submissions, live sale preparation, and operational organization Process declined buybacks and ensure all declined offers are properly packaged and shipped back to customers Maintain accurate records of buyback transactions, inventory movement, customer payouts, and operational reporting Respond to customer service inquiries regarding buybacks, missing cards, pricing questions, shipment issues, and offer updates Monitor sports card market trends, product releases, player performance, and pricing fluctuations to support accurate evaluations Work closely with operations, sorting, shipping, and management teams to maintain workflow efficiency and inventory accuracy Assist with sorting, packaging, fulfillment, and additional operational tasks when needed Identify discrepancies, investigate customer concerns, and help resolve issues professionally and efficiently Maintain organization and accuracy within a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment Skills Strong understanding of sports cards, trading cards, and the collectibles market Advanced ability to comp cards quickly and accurately using recent sales data and market analysis Familiarity with platforms such as eBay sold listings, 130point, Card Ladder, and other card valuation tools Knowledge of sports card terminology including parallels, short prints, autographs, patches, grading scales, and sealed product formats Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy under pressure Strong analytical and decision-making abilities regarding pricing and valuation Comfortable working with inventory systems, spreadsheets, and operational software Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and efficiently in a team-oriented environment Familiarity with Whatnot or live-stream selling platforms is a plus Qualifications Prior experience with sports cards, trading cards, or collectibles strongly preferred Experience comping cards or buying/selling within the hobby preferred Experience in inventory management, shipping, fulfillment, or customer service is a plus High school diploma or equivalent required Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with daily operational deadlines What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who lives and breathes sports cards, understands the market, and can accurately evaluate cards at a high level.
