Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements: Licensed for the application to Ornamental and Turf Pest Control through the Office of Pest Management within 6 months of hire.Playground Safety Certification through the National Playground and Safety Institute within 6 months of hire.Backflow/Check Valve Certification within 6 months of hire.Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.PREFERRED/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION(s): Experience in a municipal or government setting.Previous supervisory experience is preferred.Hiring Range: $72,158 - $89,477 DOETell me more…..The purpose of this position is to provide site leadership in a fast-paced environment at one of the three community parks and/or the Peoria Sports Complex, home to the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres Spring Training Facilities. Areas of responsibility would include staff development and training including safety, sports turf management, ball field maintenance, chemical/fertilizer applications and overseeing all park-related assets. Primary responsibilities: Supervise staff engaged in the maintenance and landscaping of the City’s community parks and Sports Complex.Conduct technical maintenance work, such as ball field preparation and renovations.Oversee irrigation system testing and maintenance.Act as the onsite lead turf grass management technical representative for application, recording, and storage of required fertilizers and pesticides.Complete administrative tasks, attend meetings, manage weekly reports, conduct onsite safety inspections, and monitors supplies and inventory.The ideal candidate for this position will have: Experienced with personnel supervision including timekeeping, approving requests for time off, etc. Comfortable directing personnel in what’s needed to meet the needs of an activity, event or program with minimal direction.Comfortable communicating with patrons, volunteers, vendors, concessionaires, and public safety and team personnel as required.A safety conscious, punctual team player with a high work ethic, with the flexibility to act cross-functionally when the Department's workload demands.To view the full job description, work environment and physical demands, click here.Why Peoria?Recently voted the #1 place, to live, work and play, Peoria is a community you can be proud to work for.
