The North Brooklyn YMCA is seeking a Sports & Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator who helps ensure that all programs are engaging and safe, while providing excellent service to members and participants. This role plays an essential part in promoting a positive, inclusive environment and ensuring members feel welcomed, supported, and motivated to pursue their wellness goals. The Sports & Healthy Lifestyles department includes the Fitness Center and Equipment, Personal Training, Group Exercise, Sports Classes, and Private Lessons. Key Responsibilities: Program & Facility Operations Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and supervising program staff. Assist in coordinating daily operations of the Fitness Center and Sports Programs, including scheduling spaces and managing equipment upkeep in collaboration with the maintenance team. Help plan, implement, and improve Wellness and Sports Programs including high quality age-appropriate lessons. Provide opportunities to demonstrate learned skills to ensure member satisfaction, and alignment with YMCA standards. Ensure that all equipment is age-appropriate, safe, and in proper working condition, including conducting monthly equipment safety checks. Research and support the development of new and enhanced program offerings based on member needs and feedback. Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned. Staff Support & Leadership Serve as the point of contact for Sports & Healthy Lifestyles staff and help ensure all staff certifications are up to date and properly documented. Participate in staff training, meetings, and development opportunities; complete required hospitality training within 90 days of hire. Member Experience & Community Engagement Serve Provide outstanding hospitality to all members, guests, and participants, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Build positive relationships that support member satisfaction, engagement, and retention. Encourage member involvement and strengthen their sense of belonging to the YMCA community. Support special events, community programs, and promotional activities. Administration & Compliance Serve Complete administrative responsibilities including attendance tracking, reporting, scheduling, equipment and supply monitoring, and payroll processing. Assist with developing and tracking departmental budgets in accordance with Branch and Association guidelines. Maintain professional certifications and ensure compliance with YMCA policies and safety procedures. Desired Skills & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. College coursework preferred. Ability to work with participants of varying experience and skill levels. Excellent hospitality, interpersonal, and communication skills. Knowledge of fitness trends, fitness training, Foundations of Strength and Conditioning, Group Exercise, and Listen First. Knowledgeable of the Principles of Member Health & Wellness. Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
