Join a hands-on outdoor role maintaining the sporting grounds and open spaces that keep Banyule active. Enjoy working outdoors while helping maintain high-quality sporting grounds and open spaces across Banyule. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the care and maintenance of sports fields, turf wickets, croquet greens, and associated assets, contributing to safe, well-presented facilities for the community to enjoy. Working within a supportive team environment, you’ll apply sound turf management practices and benefit from a 9-day fortnight that supports work-life balance. Why you'll love this role and what you’ll do This role offers the opportunity to apply your turf management skills across a diverse range of sporting surfaces, including ovals, turf wickets and croquet greens. You’ll operate specialist equipment, support renovation works, respond to maintenance needs and work closely with a small team to deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes for local clubs and community users. What You’ll Do Operate tractors, F.E.L., and turf equipment to carry out sportsfield maintenance and renovation works, including aeration, top dressing, fertilising and oversowing. Assist in maintaining sports fields, turf wickets, croquet greens and associated infrastructure to ensure safe and high-quality facilities Support irrigation, drainage and synthetic pitch maintenance, including identifying and reporting faults Contribute to routine maintenance, inspections, reporting and general support across the Parks and Natural Environment team. What You'll Bring/what We Are Looking For We’re looking for a motivated and reliable turf professional with practical experience in sportsfield maintenance and a strong commitment to quality and safety. You’ll bring sound knowledge of turf management practices, experience operating machinery and the ability to work collaboratively to maintain high-quality sporting facilities for the community. You will bring Certificate III in Turf Management or relevant industry experience in sportsfield maintenance Knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems and sportsfield maintenance machinery Experience and competency in the safe operation of F.E.L, tractors and related equipment Understanding of turf wicket and croquet green preparation and maintenance Current Medium Rigid Driver’s Licence and White Card training Pre-employment Requirements Current Victorian Drivers Licence Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) Functional Capacity Assessment CPR/First Aid (desirable) We Offer A temporary, full-time role (secondment cover position until 12 March 2027) Salary $75,614.10 per annum plus super 26 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/4 weeks of paid parental leave - partner Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including health and well-being initiatives Flexible work and leave arrangements How To Apply Please submit your resume and a cover letter (maximum of three pages) setting out your achievements, skills and experience aligned to the key selection criteria in the position description.
