Summary Start a rewarding career as a Cage Wash and Maintenance Supervisor in the Comparative Medicine Core (CMC) at the Speros Moffitt Discovery and Innovation Institute . This cutting-edge facility is dedicated to advancing cancer research. We are looking for a supervisor to join our team, where you will be responsible for ensuring the proper preparation and sanitation of equipment used in the housing and care of animals within CMC, as well as performing preventive maintenance. Position Highlights Oversight of cage processing, equipment, and support areas and staff. The Ideal Candidate Has experience managing teams. Understands research protocols, basic research animal care and colony management. Has the ability to lift up-to 75 pounds. Able to make decisions effectively and accurately in a fast-paced or changing environment. Able to be flexible to meet changing customer needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity. Communicates clearly, effectively, and respectfully. Must be willing to work and contribute effectively to a team setting. Knowledge of cage wash equipment including tunnel washers, rack washers and autoclaves Responsibilities Provides oversight of assigned staff. Implements maintenance program for cage wash equipment and assists with minor repairs to maintain facility upkeep. This may include minor repairs to caging, cage wash equipment, and other animal-related equipment. Assist in creating and implementing standard operating procedures and training material. Reviews all record keeping ensuring processes are being followed; addresses issues with machines. Assists with new-hire training and re-training as needed. Ensures appropriate inventory of - chemicals, indicators, and supplies used in washing and sterilizing operations bulk feed and bedding supplies cage wash supplies Credentials And Qualifications Associate's degree (Animal Related) Required; Bachelor's Degree (Animal Related) Preferred. LAT Certification through AALAS must be obtained within 6 months of starting the position.
