Project Overview Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future. The UPF project works on multiple schedules. The schedule will be discussed during your interview. Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable. Job Summary In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s control systems aspects. You will design, develop, modify, and evaluate control systems components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project’s control systems aspects are met. Major Responsibilities Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Control Systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications Participates in the design, development and modification of Control Systems' components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) Coordinates Control Systems' engineering efforts in assigned areas and collaborates with specialty groups, other engineering disciplines, the client, suppliers, contractors, construction and other functional groups Originates and checks conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals Originates and checks design deliverables for misc. process systems Provides technical assistance to other Control Systems personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards Participates in component configuration, integration and testing Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Control Systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution Education And Experience Requirements Requires bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or other related engineering field from an accredited institution and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge And
