Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Fire phone, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create? We are currently seeking a a Senior Manager over Hardware Development who will be responsible for defining and implementing manufacturing and test processes for sub-assemblies and consumer devices. You will be a key member of the development team and will be the main interface among the internal engineering and operations teams as well as our OEM partners. Key job responsibilities In This Role, You Will Work with the OEM’s New Product Operations teams to identify and solve manufacturing challenges by enforcing DFM and DFT principles. Investigate and introduce new manufacturing assembly technology and methodology to enhance production efficiency. Develop assembly strategy, implement and optimize assembly setup/processes at the ODM including identification, specification, design and qualification of fixtures, equipment and control software. Evaluate assembly system performance at development stage and drive requirements, specs and limits with Engineering Development Team. Develop, review and execute equipment requirement plans to support new product manufacturing. Work within Operations, PD, HW and SW engineering departments to implement and optimize efficiency. Bridge the gap with OEM partners by supporting development builds and production. Support cost reduction and sustaining activities. This position requires travel internationally. About The Team Manufacturing Design Engineers (MDE) are part of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) organization. MDEs are broadly responsible for defining, designing, and delivering the fixtures, equipment, and processes necessary to assemble Amazon devices at the Contract Manufacturers (CM). They collaborate with Product Design (PD) teams to optimize designs for both product requirements and assembly cost efficiency. MDEs are active participants at product builds and are expected to qualify, debug, and deliver the overall assembly processes per schedule. Basic Qualifications 10+ years of manufacturing, process, industrial engineering experience 10+ years of engineering team management experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field Experience in engineering team management Experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering Experience developing and testing mechanical robotics equipment Experience in system-level integration Experience with DFx (cost, test, manufacturing) Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field Knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and software for technical document writing such as Visio, Word, or PowerPoint Experience in technical leadership of development, testing, and implementation of large-scale, complex technology projects Experience working as a technical lead Experience working with Data & AI related technologies, including, but not limited to, AI/ML, GenAI, Analytics, Database, and/or Storage Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
