Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join their growing team. The Senior Program Manager will work to shape and execute a systems-oriented climate strategy. This role blends strategic research, grantmaking, stakeholder engagement, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical rigor, the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights, and a demonstrated interest in systems-level climate solutions spanning sectors such as oceans, agriculture, and energy. Key Details Location: New York City Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Compensation: $150,000 – $175,000 base DOE Core Responsibilities Strategy & Research Contribute to the development and refinement of the organization’s climate strategy Conduct in-depth research to inform grantmaking and impact investment opportunities Monitor trends, policy developments, and emerging opportunities across climate sectors Produce clear, actionable insights from complex datasets and research findings Portfolio & Partnership Management Develop and manage grant portfolios aligned to strategic priorities Build and maintain relationships with experts, nonprofit partners, and peer funders Identify collaboration opportunities across philanthropic and investment initiatives Represent the organization in external engagements as appropriate Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Synthesize and present findings to senior leadership, including principals and executives Support decision-making through structured analysis and clear recommendations Conduct discreet outreach and fact-finding conversations with field experts Operations & Team Support Support grant pipeline management and processing Assist with budget tracking and reporting Coordinate meetings, events, and internal processes Contribute to the development of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks Co-manage internal committee workflows, including agendas and task tracking Candidate Profile 4+ years of experience in a climate-related or adjacent field Strong technical and analytical capabilities; comfortable managing complex workstreams Exceptional ability to synthesize information into clear, structured outputs Strategic thinker with a systems-change mindset Highly proactive with strong judgment and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively in a lean team environment Demonstrated discretion and experience handling sensitive information
