Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the accurate and timely management of financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. As a key player in our accounting operations, you will support various financial processes, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, payroll administration, and financial reporting. Responsibilities Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits for all financial transactions. Perform balance sheet reconciliations regularly to verify account balances and identify discrepancies. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft. Assist with payroll management tasks utilizing systems like ADP, Kronos, Ceridian, UltiPro, or Paychex to ensure timely salary processing. Support compliance efforts related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit procedures. Conduct data entry with high precision, maintaining detailed records for audit purposes and financial analysis. Contribute to month-end closing activities, including account analysis and general ledger reconciliation. Assist with governmental accounting requirements and non-profit accounting practices as needed. Support tax preparation activities by providing relevant financial data and documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, financial reporting, and audit preparations to ensure seamless operations. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred. Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with familiarity in GAAP standards. Hands-on experience with various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, debits & credits, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping. Knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or Paychex is highly desirable. Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and governmental accounting standards is a plus. Excellent attention to detail coupled with strong analytical skills; ability to perform data entry accurately under tight deadlines. Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including 10-key typing) along with basic math skills for account analysis and budgeting tasks.
