Job Description
Dedicated and energetic Accounting Manager to join our team. In taking on this growth-oriented opportunity, you will participate in the full spectrum of financial activities and planning, working directly with the company principals in a highly professional environment. You will be responsible for primary management of the company's bookkeeping, general ledger, financial records, vendor payments and payroll processing. This is a pivotal role as project volume increases and requires someone with not only expert knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, but also superior organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for detail and quality; experience in real estate or construction is a plus. Primary Responsibilities Include Review invoices from staff, contractors, and third parties; obtain payment approval from management; prepare electronic/ACH and check payments. Prepare and post General Ledger entries in QuickBooks, maintaining accuracy across multiple entities and reporting structures. Maintain and audit detailed project financial records in the company's project management platform, ensuring accurate job costing for labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead. Track and allocate costs to both completed and in-progress construction projects, ensuring proper classification and reporting. Create month-end reconciliations and financial reports (accounts payable aging, balance sheets, income statements, etc.), including Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and over/under billing analysis. Manage payroll, insurance, and benefits payments. Create annual operating budgets and track year-to-date progress against budget, including project-level cost performance. Track project schedules and budgets to prepare accurate weekly cash flow forecasts. Submit project financials to lenders to facilitate financing draws, ensuring alignment with project progress and cost reporting. Coordinate capital calls from and distributions to investors, maintaining accurate records across multiple entities. Support multi-entity accounting processes, ensuring consistency and compliance across all entities and reporting requirements. Support the Controller in the office with financial reporting, and special projects. General administrative and miscellaneous support. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred; Accounting certificate with proven experience considered 3-8 years' experience in accounting, including some financial management Knowledge and experience in real estate or construction a plus Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Passion for quality work with careful attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills Proven ability to both work within existing systems and processes and to create new workflows Strong oral and written communication skills to clearly and effectively convey issues, reports, and other deliverables Comfort level with financial software including QuickBooks Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel Experience with Builder trend or other builder software platforms a plus High energy level, initiative, and problem-solving ability Highest degree of honesty, integrity, and professionalism
