Job Description
As a Staff Accountant you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and contributing to the timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes. Essential Functions o Prepare and post journal entries. o Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. o Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities. o Analyze financial data and investigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual transactions. o Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules. o Maintain and update fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules. o Process accounts payable. o Record cash receipts. o Support tax filing processes and regulatory reporting. o Assist in the preparation for annual audits, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests. o Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, and company policies. o Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, workflows, and reporting efficiencies. o Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to resolve accounting-related issues and provide financial support. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Power Pivot, nested SUMIFS/XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar is preferred. CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
