Job Description
As a Staff Accountant you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and contributing to the timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes. Essential Functions Prepare and post journal entries. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities. Analyze financial data and investigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual transactions. Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules. Maintain and update fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules. Process accounts payable. Record cash receipts. Support tax filing processes and regulatory reporting. Assist in the preparation for annual audits, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, and company policies. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, workflows, and reporting efficiencies. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to resolve accounting-related issues and provide financial support. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Power Pivot, nested SUMIFS/XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar is preferred. CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
