Job Specific Working Conditions Mercer Island is a vibrant community nestled between Downtown Seattle and Bellevue! It offers a small-town feel while still being connected to the big city. Our area has a rich history with Young Life and a strong group of committed high school leaders. We are looking for a Staff Associate who is ready to pioneer WyldLife (our ministry to middle school students), build a strong team of volunteer leaders, and engage deeply in the lives of kids. There is already great ministry happening on the Island and a lot of excitement for continued growth! The Staff Associate will coordinate club, contact work, discipleship opportunities, and events. They will rally community support, partner with parents, and develop systems that support a sustainable and thriving ministry. You will be part of a supportive staff team and be led by an experienced Area Director, who is committed to your development and growth in ministry. This position also includes raising personal financial support as part of the role. The anticipated hourly/salary can range from $40,000 to $45,000, depending on relevant education, experience, and location. This position is eligible for a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) depending on the zip code that the candidate is living in. YL Staff Associate II Summary Through both formal training and direct field ministry experience, learn how to effectively carry out and manage Young Life ministry, while holding some of the area responsibilities. Ministry Functions Spiritual Development — “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health and church relationships. Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word. Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community. Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community. Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development. Leadership Development — “Equipping leaders, committee and staff” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision and vision casting. Meet with your volunteer leaders and area leadership on a regular basis. Learn to recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community. Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders. Assist in training leaders, team leaders and committee how to work effectively in teams and develop a yearly ministry strategy. Resource Development — “Fueling the ministry” includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding) and TDS team. Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices. Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners. Observe and learn to network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including: principals, pastors, parents, potential commit
