Staff Nurse (RN), Adult Emergency Department - Full Time, Nights

Job Description Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine , as a Staff Nurse in the Adult Emergency Room department. The Adult Emergency Department consists of 55 patient care rooms including a rapid assessment unit, six trauma/resuscitation suites and separate rooms for infection isolation, care of immune compromised patients, and psychiatric consultations. In the general care area, 45 rooms are fully equipped with critical care monitoring capabilities. The six trauma/resuscitation suites are immediately adjacent to the ambulance bay. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity . You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. A staff nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision. Essential Job Functions Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs. Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients. Provides input into the development of clinical paths with assigned Case Manager. Uses care plan and/or clinical path in providing patient care. Delegates as appropriate based on patient needs
