Job Description
Summary/Objective A stagehand performs tasks involving physical labor for various live production projects. This includes both large and small traditional theatrical spaces, convention centers, outdoor venues, concert arenas, film sets, theatrical performances, sporting events, graduations and rock shows. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools. Stagehands are usually skilled in multiple disciplines, including rigging, carpentry, stage electrics, stage lighting, audio/projection, wardrobe and props. Stagehands are often responsible for operating the systems and performing cues during shows or taping and also for the repair and maintenance of equipment. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Performs material handling and storage. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the job steward/employer. Loads and unloads props, sets, boxes and stacks of equipment from trucks. Set up and operate lighting, audio, carpentry, wardrobe and projection equipment Perform spotlight operation during performances Construct set pieces Set up risers, stages and music equipment Maintain costumes, including laundry, quick changes and repairs. Ability to work in a team environment. Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites.
