Job Summary Use your storekeeping best practice methods of inventory control and maintaining automated records to work for the largest local agency in San Diego.We're hiring for an experienced STOREKEEPER to join our team! THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $49,067.20 An hourly premium is provided for this assignment, in addition to the base wage.FUTURE SALARY INCREASE June 2026 - 5.27% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board 1.77% Market Adjustment) June 2027 - 4.77% increase to base pay (3% Across-the- Board 1.77% Market Adjustment) ABOUT THE POSITION Storekeepers work in various departments throughout the County of San Diego.We are currently looking for dedicated individuals to fill a Storekeeper position in the Sheriff's Office.Storekeepers play a key role in ensuring essential supplies are properly managed across various locations, including commissaries, storerooms, warehouses, and detention facilities.This role will oversee the planning, coordination, and organization of inventory--handling everything from ordering and receiving to storing and distributing a diverse range of items.Click here to view the complete listing of job duties and responsibilities.IDEAL CANDIDATES will have work experience handling a high volume of inventory in a large storeroom or warehouse while using efficient safety storeroom practices.Our current vacancies are in the Sheriff's Commissary.All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply as this list may also be used for vacancies in other County of San Diego departments.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.Two (2) years of storekeeping or warehouse experience consisting of ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and equipment; OR, 2.Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Stock Clerk with the County of San Diego.NOTE:Depending on assignment, select positions may require possession of a valid Certified Forklift Operator's license from a recognized agency or organization within thirty (30) days after appointment.Experience in providing first line or full supervision over employees responsible for performing storekeeping work is desirable.The Department of Human Resources will remove personally identifiable information from all new recruitments.This practice, called Blind Applicant Screening, will hide a candidate's personal information that could influence or bias a hiring decision.Personal information includes name, phone number, address, gender, age, and race.This process will help contribute to a fair and equitable selection process leading to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.The most highly qualified candidates, based on the evaluation results, will be referred for an interview.Be sure to include your experience in meeting the minimum requirements in both the Work Experience section and the Supplemental Questionnaire section of the Application.Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the application Work Experience and/or supplemental questionnaire.WORKING CONDITIONS Work primarily takes place indoors within an office or storeroom environment or warehouse environment (separate building).Work involves frequent travel to various locations within the County to pick up or deliver items.Work involves occasional exposure to heights, loud machine noises, unpleasant odors, gaseous fumes, dust, debris, and varying temperatures.When assigned to the Probation or Sheriff's Department, work involves frequent interaction with juvenile or adult incarcerated individuals who may be uncooperative, upset, hostile, and potentially violent.CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT As part of the County of San Diego's pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment.Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position.EVALUATION The names of qualified candidates will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application form will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system.If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform the essential functions of a job, on a case-by-case basis Interested!
