Job Description
This is specialized manual and clerical logistical support work in the operation of municipal warehouses and stockrooms for the Water Resources Department.This individual will be required to qualify and continue to qualify to be issued a Purchasing Card.Work involves the prompt and efficient receipt, storage, issuing, recording and maintenance of materials and equipment and includes maintenance and control of individual and perpetual inventory, checking records, researching item source and availability, and preparing manual and electronic periodic reports.Work also includes maintaining minimum/maximum volume monitoring and prompting for replenishment of unregulated and software monitored inventories and parts; maintaining shop consumables including paints, primers, solvents, lubricants, aerosols, greases etc.used in facility, electrical, and mechanical maintenance, and repair activities; maintaining and refreshing stock, labeling and monitoring of product expiration dates, and chemicals (where applicable); cleaning, maintaining, displaying and organizing inventory and storage areas for efficiency to access and identify parts; picking up and delivering parts, orders, and assets from internal and external customers using various style City fleet vehicles; preparing, packing and securing of items for safe shipping; performing and assisting with asset identification, labeling, disposition, and retiring with current processes; assisting in recycling efforts by handling and moving recycled materials; providing clerical assistance in keeping electronic and physical records pertinent to purchasing, assets, bill of materials, prints, manuals, receipts, shipping tickets, organized and filed; creating and maintaining manuals for parts, assemblies and machines for repair, rebuild, ordering, replacing, parts lists etc.; and creates and maintains manuals, listings and current SDS for chemicals used in maintenance (non-operations).Salary:$21.03 - $32.05 Hourly Close Date:03-06-2026 (11:59 PM) To Qualify Minimum Qualifications.Applicants must:Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.Have a minimum of one year of experience in a stockroom or warehouse.Be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.Have considerable knowledge of warehousing methods and practices, especially receiving experience.Have skill in the operation and use of computer terminal equipment and portable electronic devices utilized for inventory control and stock location.Be able to access and use stairs, ladders, stools for increased access.Be able to work in unconditioned spaces for extended periods of time.Be able to utilize computer software programs to analyze and research stock items.Be able to assist conducting manual inventory, including annual stock.Be able to prepare or assist in preparation of requisition for materials and parts and train other employees on proper procedures for requestioning parts and/or material.Be able to issue inventory to trucks based on previous days' productivity and ensure that inventory returned matches the work completed.Be able to read, write, type, understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.Be able to, on a daily basis, lift packages or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.Be able to, on a daily basis, walk long distances within the warehouse for extended periods of time.Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.Desirable Qualifications.Preferred applicants:Have experience in the operation of material handling equipment and forklifts.Ability to complete and pass training for motorized and non-motorized forklift and other lift operations style equipment.Are able to acquire a knowledge of the use, location and nomenclature of a large number of parts, materials, equipment and supplies maintained in storage, or material particular to a special departmental operation.Some knowledge of computer asset management systems.Selection Process IMPORTANT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS For purposes of employment, re-employment, promotion, transfer or demotion, the most qualified applicants will be selected to continue in the hiring process.At this point, any prior criminal records will be verified.A prior criminal record will not necessarily disqualify a selected applicant from employment.The City of St.Petersburg is committed to a Drug Free Workplace and compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing rules.Applicants may be required to successfully complete pre-employment drug testing and/or medical exams.How To Apply Apply online at www.stpete.org/jobs - Select See Open Jobs.City employees must use the Current City Employee link or use a City computer to access iRecruitment Employee Candidate.The City of St.Petersburg is committed to affirmative action and equa
