Job Summary Performs assigned tasks specific to area. Areas eligible for student workers include Food Service Worker, Custodian, Dormitory Assistant, Clerical Support, Grounds Caretaker, Heatlh Aide, Driver and Tutor. Job Duties FOOD SERVICE: Assists cook with food preparation as assigned. Cleans and sanitizes kitchen cabinets, floors and equipment according to standard practices. Cleans and sanitizes dining area tables, floors, and trash receptacles according to standard practices. Assist in serving food to students and staff. DRIVER: Assists passengers to enter and leave vehicle. Drives school bus or GSA vehicle in transporting students, pickup/deliver mail and supplies and/or to deliver documents to area offices. Keeps vehicle clean, polished, and in operating condition. Makes minor repairs or adjustments such as fixing punctures. Provides records as necessary. CUSTODIAN: Maintains cleanliness of floors by sweeping, mopping, waxing and/or vacuuming as needed. Maintains cleanliness of bathrooms by scouring and sanitizing fixtures. Maintains cleanliness of areas by dusting furniture and fixtures. Replenishes bathroom supplies and other expendable items as needed. Collects and disposes of trash from receptacles on a daily basis. Maintains orderliness of supply room by placing articles in assigned areas. Inspects and disposes of litter from grounds. Informs supervisor of supply shortages and picks up supplies as instructed. Routinely inspects structure for needed repairs and reports any findings to supervisor. DORMATORY ASSISTANT: Assist residential advisor in supervising residents in maintaining a clean, orderly, safe and comfortable dorm atmosphere and appearance. Assist in housekeeping chores as needed. Assist residential advisor in responding promptly to illness, emotional trauma, arrest, trouble at home or maladjustment to Center life. Participates in the disciplinary process as established at the Center. Assist the Residential Advisor in supporting other Center programs including recreation/vocation and student government. CLEARICAL SUPPORT: Obtains caller’s name and arranges for appointment with person called upon. Directs caller to destination and records name, time of call, nature of business, and person called upon. Answers telephone, transfers calls or takes messages. Types memos, logs, lists, and other documents, or performs some data entry. Issues visitor’s pass when required or escorts visitor to appropriate area. Makes future appointments and answers inquiries. Collects and distributes mail and messages. Performs other clerical duties such as faxing and photocopying documents. Files documents as needed. GROUNDS CARETAKER: Under supervision assists in preparing and grading terrain, applying fertilizers, seeding and sodding lawns, and transplanting shrubs and plants. Assists in planning lawns, and plants and cultivating them. Plants new and repairs established lawns, using seed mixtures and fertilizers recommended for particular soil type and lawn location. Locates and plants shrubs, trees, and flowers for particular landscape effect. Picks up supplies as needed. Performs upkeep on lawns by mowing and edging. Keeps grounds free of litter. HEALTH AIDE: Screens patients by obtaining weight, height, and vital signs and records information on appropriate forms. Prepares exam rooms according to standard operating procedures. Assists providers and nurses with treatments and procedures as instructed. Operates Autoclave and repacks medical instruments per standard procedures as instructed. Conducts testings and procedures as requested by the nurse or provider. Maintains required files. Maintains supplies and restocks as needed. TUTOR: Tutors assigned students in required subject(s). Sets up time and location of tutorial session. Prepares appropriate material for sessions. Reviews assignments for completeness and correctness. Provides alternative methods of learning when necessary. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibility is required. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be a current eligible student. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS None. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS If duties include driving: Must possess a valid driver's license. Driving record must be in compliance with insurance underwriter's requirements. Must have completed a defensive driving (DDC-8) course.
