Overview Join our vibrant summer team as a Summer Camp Counselor - Lifeguard, where you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for campers. Overview Camp Riva-Lake’s mission is to foster a sisterhood of belonging by empowering girls to become the best version of themselves. We provide experiences aimed at helping campers become more independent and self-confident. Activities and interactions are intentional to support each girl's development of positive character traits, leadership and physical skills. CRL is a 501c(3) non-profit and is accredited by the American Camp Association We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors at our girls-only summer camp. Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive and fun environment where camps can grow in confidence, independence and friendship. You will be responsible for supervising daily activities, fostering personal growth, and ensuring the well-being of all participants. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children. We are specifically looking for someone who is willing to get lifeguard certified (Camp Riva Lake will provide the training). Duties Live with, supervise and mentor a cabin of 6-10 campers, often alongside another counselor Primary responsibility is in leading activities. Our activities include Swimming, Canoeing, Sailing, Tennis, Basketball, Arts and Crafts, Archery, Dance, and Woodslore. Assist with evening activities and programs. the campers. Assist with various duties on campus such as milk and crackers, commissary, mail call, and patrolling. Help address conflicts between campers and managing any behavioral issue that may arise. Maintain a clean and safe environment for campers, including camp facilities and equipment Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and other staff members. Recognize and respond to minor injuries Serve as a positive remodel, help deliver our mission and values to create friendship and foster sisterhood Collaborate with other camp staff to ensure a cohesive and effective camp experience. Experience Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experiences: Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years old. Experience: Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting is desirable. Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR certification required; additional certifications in lifeguarding or wilderness training are a plus. Lifeguard Training June 23-26, bonus for LG certification. CPR and First Aid training provided during Staff Training (June 23-July 27) Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Leadership skills and the ability to manage groups of children. Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle emergency situations calmly. Physical Requirements: Ability to engage in physical activities, including hiking, swimming, and participating in sports. Background Check: Those 18 and older must pass a criminal background check and any other required screenings. Availability: Must be available for the entire duration of the camp session, including pre-camp training.
