Job Description
Builder Services / CAD Tech Internship Duration: 8 Weeks | Part-Time Department: Builder Services Primary Focus: Exposure to CAD technology, civil engineering workflows, and cross-functional operations within the organization. We specialize in the design of single and multi-family developments as well as commercial projects. Our team works with clients and jurisdictions to transform small and large tracts of land into completed developments. This includes land planning, zoning assistance, land surveying, color exhibits, preparation of construction plans, plats, construction staking, and as-builts. We work with clients and their design team throughout the entire process culminating in final completion of construction. Our clients include many nationally known builders and developers but also local production and custom home builders. Internship Purpose - The purpose of this internship is to provide hands-on exposure to the civil engineering industry through a structured rotational experience centered within the Builder Services team. The intern will develop foundational CAD skills while gaining visibility into how engineering, surveying, field operations, project management, and client coordination work together to deliver projects successfully. The program is designed to: Introduce core civil engineering concepts and workflows Build technical proficiency in CAD and plan preparation Develop professional communication and collaboration skills Provide exposure to multiple career paths within civil engineering and land development Help the intern better understand long-term opportunities within the industry Core Learning Objectives - By the end of the internship, the intern should be able to: Understand the lifecycle of a civil engineering project Demonstrate basic proficiency within CAD platforms Assist with preparation and revision of: Plot plans Erosion control plans Surveyor location reports Lot fit exhibits Interpret verbal and written markups/redlines Understand how survey, engineering, and builder services collaborate Gain awareness of field operations and construction coordination Develop professional workplace communication skills Stoeppelwerth & Associates, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
