Job Description
Position: Summer Math Instructor A prestigious academy located in San Marino with 17 years of history, is now hiring a summer school math instructor for 7th-8th graders. This position is part time and seasonal, 5-7 hours per week, at $40/hr for qualified applicants. We're looking for someone with a passion for educating young minds and is proficient with math subjects up to Algebra I. Class management skills, strong communication skills and the ability to problem solve are key skills we look for in our teachers. Job Functions: -Prepare math material for each session -Teach middle school level math subjects and make sure students understand them -Answer student questions and help them solve problems on their math worksheets -Grade each assignment and give student weekly feedback -Communicate with the school admins regarding any support needed Key Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related STEM field. If you are a current credentialed teacher that's also a huge plus. -Previous experience working with elementary or middle school students is highly preferred. This could include tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or classroom teaching. -Strong adaptability to different situations and students is a key skill for summer school, each student in the class will need slightly different instructions due to varying proficiency levels. -Because this position involves working with minors in Los Angeles, you will be required to pass a background check.
