Expected compensation: 20.00 - 24.00 USD Per Hour HireArt is helping our client find reliable Support Specialists to support the day-to-day technical operations of an autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin. This is primarily a technical support role focused on real-time issue intake, triage, documentation, and escalation. The person in this role will work closely with safety drivers, operators, and engineering teams to keep vehicles operational and ensure technical issues are clearly captured and routed for further debugging. The ideal candidate has a general technical support background, is comfortable working in Unix command line environments on a daily basis, communicates clearly, and can stay organized while handling multiple requests in a fast-paced operational setting. This role also includes light hands-on vehicle support, such as basic readiness checks, cable reconnections, and occasional vehicle movement within the garage. Available Shifts (5-day Work Week) First shift: 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM Second shift: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Third shift: 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM As a Support Specialist, You'll Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues raised by safety drivers and operators during active shifts. Process, triage, document, and escalate vehicle- and system-related issues to the appropriate engineering teams. Use Unix command line tools regularly to support issue investigation, log review, and operational troubleshooting. Communicate clearly with operators, drivers, and engineers to ensure issues are accurately understood and handed off. Support vehicle dispatch and return processes to help maintain fleet readiness. Perform vehicle startup and shutdown procedures. Oversee charging status and confirm log uploads as part of daily operational readiness. Perform light hands-on support tasks such as reconnecting cables, checking onboard device indicators, and confirming system readiness. Move vehicles around the garage as needed and be prepared to drive on-road occasionally if required in the future. Help document updates to workflows, procedures, and support practices so knowledge can be shared across the team. Requirements At least 1 year of experience in technical support, operations support, or a similar support-focused role Hands-on experience using Slack as a primary communication tool Experience with ticket tracking systems such as Jira, YouTrack, or similar tools Comfortable working in a Unix environment as a daily part of the job Strong working knowledge of basic Unix commands and utilities (e.g., cd, ls, rm, cp, scp, cat, vim, uptime, and journalctl) Strong communicator who can collaborate effectively with engineers, safety drivers, and operators Highly responsible, detail-oriented, and safety-focused Able to manage multiple requests in parallel in a fast-paced environment Comfortable with repetitive tasks and process-driven work Driving/Physical Requirements Valid driver’s license held for at least 3 years Comfortable moving vehicles around a garage or operational site Able to drive confidently if occasional on-road driving becomes necessary Able to lift up to 50 lbs Comfortable working onsite around vehicles for extended periods Nice-to-Have Experience with fleet operations, incident handling, or remote technical support Knowledge of vehicle technical systems Experience working with autonomous vehicles Familiarity with onboard hardware checks, connectors, or light technical support tasks on vehicles Benefits Pre-tax commuter benefits Employer (HireArt) subsidized Healthcare Benefits Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance 401k package Commitment: *This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt.
