Job Description JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor or their delegate, employee will oversee maintenance and cleanliness at the Surf 'n Slide Water Park and other duties as advised by the Lead Groundskeeper on duty.This temporary seasonal position will assist in operations of the facility with other temporary groundskeepers and reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor or the delegate.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Clean as needed in a conscientious manner while attempting to improve the quality of the aquatic facility.Completion of monthly in-service training and training material for the groundskeeper position.Respond quickly, effectively and efficiently to all cleaning situations.Communicate with the Lead Groundskeeper on duty and public.To report fully all accidents/concerns involving any aspect of the facility to the Recreation Supervisor or assistant manager.Assist in screening coolers and bags entering the facility.Rake, sweep and pick up pinecones, pine needles and branches in the grass and sand.Regularly clean all bathrooms, including changing areas, toilets and showers.Restock all items such as paper towels, toilet paper, urinal cakes and trash bags.Regularly empty all trash cans inside and outside of the facility.Pick up all trash inside and outside of the facility.Clean all areas of cobwebs, dirt and debris.Weed all areas of the grass, shrubs and plants inside and outside of facility.Remove fecal matter and vomit from swimming pool.Performs other related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of cleaning supplies and solutions.Knowledge of basic mathematical functions.Ability to interact with general public in a manner consistent with providing high quality customer service.Ability to enforce regulations in a fair, impartial and polite manner.Ability to deal with staff and public in a professional, team-oriented manner.Ability to anticipate and prevent accidents.Ability to work cooperatively with others.SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Recreation Supervisor or their delegate, assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions.The Recreation Supervisor, Surf 'n Slide Lead, Surf 'n Slide Assistant Lead or Lead Groundskeeper may spot check completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature of the propriety of the final results.GUIDELINES Guidelines include City and department policies and procedures.These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretations.Follow all guidelines in accordance with the Grant County Health Department.COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The purpose of this position is to meet Grant County Health Department standards to maintain a safe and clean facility.The work consists of related customer service duties.Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.The work schedule for this position includes early mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays.CONTACTS Contacts are typically with co-workers, other City employees, and members of the general public.Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services, and alert the public of safety precautions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT This work is performed while standing and walking for extended periods of time in exposure to heat indoors and outdoors.The employee may occasionally lift light and heavy objects weighing fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders, walking, walking up and down stairs, kneeling or crouching, and reaching overhead and above shoulders.This position requires exposure to chemicals and cleaning materials.This position requires exposure to body fluids, fecal matter and vomit.SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY None.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum age of at least 14 years old.Experience working in an outdoor environment highly desirable.Experience interacting with public highly desirable.American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogen certification required or the ability to obtain.All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check process which includes reference checks and criminal history checks, or other.Company Description The City of Moses Lake is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.Our objective is to provide equal opportunity in all terms, conditions, and privileges of employment for qualified applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, or status as a covered veteran.Benefits This seasonal position does not receive any city-sponsored benefits but does receive state-mandated sick leave..
