Job Summary The Unit Based Educator will assess, plan/develop, implement and evaluate learning/resource needs related to orientation and continuing education needs. Coordinates, develops and presents educational programs designed to maintain, enhance and assess job performance and competencies for Surgical Technicians and Clinical Assistants within Surgical Services. Will also deliver care to Operative patients functioning in the role of a Surgical Technician1-2 days per week or based on the needs of the unit. Responsibilities Staff Education Conducts educational needs assessments to determine educational/competency needs of the non-nursing staff. Coordinates remediation efforts because of competency or performance issues. Collaborates with RN Surgical Services Educator and OR Leadership to receive staff education plans and helps facilitate plan on the unit. Evaluates and reports unit outcomes with Director/Manager. Acts as a department resource for clinical policies, procedures and protocols. Coordinates with Nursing Manager/Director and RN Educator to develop and present educational programs designed to maintain, enhance, and assess job performance and competencies for non-nursing employees. Addressing staff with educational needs, as they arise, and documentation of coaching/remediation provided. Evaluates and reports unit outcomes with Nurse Manager/Director. Conducts observations and takes a "hands on" approach to maintain knowledge of positions and assess needs of the staff and/or unit. Participates in review of activities or processes for area of responsibility and makes recommendations for improvement. Researches and recommends purchase of educational materials and equipment. Attends and organizes Staff In-services in coordination with RN Educator. Conducts Surgical Technician and CA unit competencies, sends re-certification reminders, and updates copies of(BLS and Surgical Tech Certs). Assessment Ass
