Hartford Healthcare, a leading not-for-profit healthcare system in Connecticut, is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will support surgeons, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses during a wide range of surgical procedures, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for every patient. You will prepare and maintain the sterile field, select and set up instruments and equipment, verify appropriate supplies and implants, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout the procedure. The Surgical Technologist (CST) will perform surgical counts, handle specimens according to policy, and assist with the application of dressings, transfers, and room turnover between cases. You will follow strict infection prevention and sterile technique standards, check equipment functionality before cases, and collaborate closely with perioperative nurses and providers to promote optimal clinical outcomes and patient safety. You will also be responsible for accurate documentation related to instruments, implants, and supplies used during procedures. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited surgical technology program with current or eligible Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credentials, demonstrates strong knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures, and aseptic technique, and is highly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure. Strong communication skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team are essential. This full-time role is primarily field/on-site within the operating room setting and may require rotating shifts, on-call responsibilities, weekends, and holidays to support patient and surgical schedule needs.
