System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) About the Company Large philanthropic health system dedicated to improving well-being of local communities Industry Hospital & Health Care Type Non Profit Founded 1986 Employees 10,001+ Categories Association Communities Fitness Health Care Gainesville About the Role The Company is in search of a Senior Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide enterprise-wide clinical leadership at a pivotal moment in the system's evolution. The successful candidate will be a seasoned physician executive with a medical degree, board certification in a clinical specialty, and a strong background in leading quality, safety, and medical staff functions within a multi-hospital or integrated health system. Key responsibilities for the role include strengthening and operationalizing a cohesive clinical governance model, serving as the principal liaison between medical staff leadership and system administration, and overseeing enterprise performance improvement efforts. The System CMO will also be instrumental in supporting medical staff self-governance, physician engagement, and leadership development, as well as providing clinical leadership for regulatory, accreditation, and risk-related matters. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving clinical outcomes, patient safety, and the consistency of care, and will be familiar with regulatory and accreditation environments, including DNV and CMS Conditions of Participation. A deep experience in working with medical staff leadership and navigating physician governance is essential. The role requires a leader who is visible, approachable, and grounded in the community, with a leadership style that is based on influence, credibility, and a commitment to collaboration. An advanced management degree is strongly preferred, and the candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia. The System CMO will play a central role in advancing consistent clinical standards, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement, and supporting research and academic initiatives that enhance the organization's role as a learning institution.
