About The Job Tax Advisor (EA/CPA) Client, the tax and accounting affiliate of a leading wealth management firm, is seeking a Tax Advisor (Enrolled Agent or CPA) for our Scottsdale office. This embedded role partners directly with our advisory team to deliver sophisticated tax planning and compliance for high-net-worth families, business owners, and real estate investors. Position Overview The Tax Advisor is responsible for both tax planning and hands-on compliance across individual, business, and trust returns. This is a mid to senior-level, full-time role based in Scottsdale with flexibility for a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding. Key Responsibilities Provide proactive tax planning and year-round advice to clients and advisors, identifying strategies to minimize current and long-term tax liabilities. Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for: Individuals (Form 1040, including complex HNW situations). Partnerships/LLCs (Form 1065). S corporations (Form 1120-S). Trusts and estates (Form 1041), as needed. Handle multi-state filings and residency/sourcing issues, with emphasis on Arizona and West Coast clients. Analyze K-1s, real estate activities, depreciation and cost segregation reports; coordinate with external providers where appropriate. Collaborate closely with wealth advisors to align tax strategies with financial, investment, and estate planning. Meet with clients to explain returns, projections, and planning ideas in clear, practical terms. Research tax issues and document conclusions for planning projects and notices. Respond to IRS and state notices and assist in examinations as needed. Maintain organized workpapers, ensure quality control, and use firm technology and portals effectively. Required Qualifications Enrolled Agent or active CPA license. 4-10 years of recent experience in public accounting or a tax-focused advisory practice. Demonstrated experience with complex 1040s and pass-through entities (1065/1120-S), including planning, not just preparation. Familiarity with real estate taxation (rentals, partnerships, passive activity rules, depreciation) or strong interest/aptitude to deepen this specialty. Experience in client-facing tax advisory conversations and explaining strategies to non-technical audiences. Proficiency with tax preparation software, research tools, and secure client portals. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines during peak seasons. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with high-net-worth clients, closely held businesses, and family entities. Exposure to multi-state tax issues and planning for mobile, multi-jurisdictional clients. Background collaborating closely with financial advisors, attorneys, or family office teams.
