Solo Brands is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our finance organization. This role is a unique opportunity to own and operate across the full spectrum of tax responsibilities for a portfolio of premium lifestyle brands, including Solo Stove, Chubbies, Oru Kayak, and ISLE Paddle Boards. Reporting directly to the Director of Tax, this role is designed for a hands-on tax professional who thrives in an individual contributor capacity while operating with the scope and accountability of a manager. You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, supporting strategic initiatives, and building scalable processes across both domestic and international tax matters. Note: This is a hybrid role so to be considered you must live within a commutable distance to our Grapevine, TX corporate office. Key Responsibilities Income Tax Compliance & Provisioning Manage federal and state income tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing processes Support quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740 Partner with external advisors as needed to ensure accurate and timely filings Indirect Tax (Sales & Use / VAT) Oversee sales and use tax compliance across multiple U.S. jurisdictions Manage Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance for European operations Monitor nexus developments and ensure appropriate registrations and filings Process Ownership & Optimization Own and improve tax processes, controls, and documentation Identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiency Ensure readiness for audits and maintain organized supporting documentation Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and external advisors on tax-related matters Provide guidance on tax implications of business initiatives, new markets, and product launches Audit & Risk Management Support federal, state, and international tax audits Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field Minimum of 5+ years of relevant tax experience Experience spanning both direct tax (income tax) and indirect tax (sales & use, VAT) Background in retail, eCommerce, consumer products, hospitality, or restaurant industries strongly preferred Alternatively, experience from a public accounting firm with exposure to relevant industries Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations; familiarity with international tax (VAT) is a plus Experience with tax provision processes (ASC 740) Key Attributes Hands-on, self-starter comfortable operating as a primary tax resource Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
