Job Title: Technical Designer - Pipefitter, Level II-IV (Facilities - NHMFL) Location: Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 62597 Department National High Magnetic Field Laboratory Join the world-renowned National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University (FSU) and support groundbreaking scientific discovery in a collaborative, high-tech environment. Responsibilities Perform pipefitting as a journeyman pipefitter on large stainless steel, carbon steel, PVC, polypro and copper pipe. Work will include layout and fabrication of specialty systems to support vacuum pumps, vertical turbine pumps, multistage turbine pumps, cooling towers, valves, heat exchanger, water treatment equipment, hot water boilers, helium purifiers, air dryers, high pressure gas systems, cryogenic systems and deionized water systems. Trouble shoot and perform breakdown maintenance on the equipment listed above along with numerous other state of art systems, some welding will be performed. Installation of new systems and equipment, including carpentry, plumbing, machining, painting, and welding. General millwright work, including setting equipment, alignment, rigging layout and setup. General paperwork, including parts ordering, vendor contracts, time keeping, scheduling, customer satisfaction. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and seven years of experience. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.) Candidates with an additional three years of related experience will be considered for levels III-VI. Level III – Low $60,000’s, commensurate with education and experience. Level IV – Low $70,000’s, commensurate with education and experience.
