Closing Date:Wednesday, March 25th, 9:00 PM PST OR once 100 applications have been received Position:Technician I - Beautification Department:Community Development Hourly Range:$28.30 - $36.13 Classification:Full-Time FLSA:Non-Exempt - Overtime Eligible Job Summary:Under direct supervision, perform a variety of routine technical, administrative, and field-support duties related to the City's landscape maintenance, beautification, and right-of-way (ROW) management programs.Responsibilities include assisting with contractor oversight, data entry, expense tracking, customer response, and coordination of maintenance activities in the public ROW.The position requires strong organizational and communication skills to ensure accuracy, timely service, and a positive customer experience.Supervisory Responsibilities:None Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist in monitoring and coordinating the maintenance of City-owned landscaping within the ROW, including contractor and vendor performance to ensure quality and compliance with standards.Input and maintains accurate records of expenses for parts, labor, purchase orders (POs), and invoices; ensures documentation aligns with City purchasing and accounting procedures.Respond to resident inquiries and service requests received via email, telephone, and Tyler; researches and resolves issues promptly and professionally or refers complex matters to supervisory staff.Handle special landscape or beautification requests outside the scope of regular maintenance, coordinating necessary resources or contractor support.Oversee assigned landscape areas outside the scope of the landscape maintenance contract; ensures irrigation, maintenance, and appearance meet City standards.Coordinate cleanup and maintenance of areas surrounding City-owned trees not included in Landscape Maintenance Districts (LMDs).Paint and maintain irrigation clock boxes, backflow boxes, and other minor infrastructure; covers graffiti and reports additional graffiti to Public Works for removal.Assist with creation, maintenance, and monitoring of computerized files, databases, and records related to maintenance activities, expenditures, and vendor performance.Conduct record searches, compiles data, and prepares summary reports or statistical worksheets as directed.Audit maintenance documents, verify accuracy, and ensure compliance with applicable City policies, regulations, and service agreements.Provide general administrative and field support for assigned programs, including scheduling inspections, coordinating contractor communications, and ensuring timely completion of work The duties listed above are not intended to be all-inclusive.An employee may also perform other related duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor.This position is considered non-exempt.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent.One (1) year of work-related experience Additional education or training in landscape maintenance, horticulture, irrigation technology, or a related discipline may substitute for some experience.Basic computer proficiency and ability to use common office software, email systems, and computerized maintenance or work-order systems.Knowledge of:Basic principles and practices of landscape and irrigation maintenance.Safe work methods, equipment operation, and maintenance techniques used in public landscaping.Standard office software and computerized maintenance systems (e.g., Tyler Munis or similar).Basic procurement and record-keeping procedures.Customer-service techniques and effective communication practices.Ability to:Accurately input and track data, expenditures, and work orders.Interpret and follow written and oral instructions, plans, and schedules.Communicate effectively and professionally with contractors, coworkers, and the public.Organize work assignments, set priorities, and meet deadlines.Identify and report field issues requiring maintenance or repair.Work independently or as part of a team in both office and outdoor environments.Core Competencies:Problem Solving - Analytically and logically evaluating information Learning Agility - Seeking learning opportunities and applying the lessons to work Handling Stress - Maintaining emotional stability and self-control under pressure, challenge, or adversity Professional Integrity & Ethics - Displaying honesty, adherence to principles, and personal accountability Safety Focus - Showing Vigilance and care in identifying and addressing health risks and safety hazards Customer Focus - Attending to the Needs and expectations of customers Informing - Proactively obtaining and sharing information Teamwork - Collaborating with others to achieve shared goals Valuing Diversity - Appreciating the benefits of varied backgrounds and cultures in the workplace Allocating Resources - Prioritizing the use of fiscal and material resources to maximize organizational effectiveness Guiding Principles Put people first.Be visionary.Be an ambassador for
