Job Description
Position Overview The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a Technology Integration Specialist to support Weston Middle and High School. This is a full-time position reporting to the Building Principals and the Assistant Superintendent for Technology & Operations. The primary goal of the Technology Integration Specialist is to aid the faculty in the utilization and integration of technologies in curriculum and instructional practices. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community.The Technology Integration Specialist should have professional background, interests, and training in uses of technologies for instruction in a variety of areas of the curriculum. Applicants must have teaching experience, a deep understanding of instructional practices, a wide breadth of knowledge with instructional technologies, intellectual curiosity with regard to applying new pedagogical techniques, and both a data and researched based mindset to instruction. Strong professional development skills (i.e. adult education) is an expectation. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary, desegregation program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 150 students (K-12). Key Responsibilities Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion Assesses and evaluates status of technology at school; Provides support to teachers, departments, and grade level teams in their development of classroom applications of instructional technology; Teaches, co-teaches, and/or facilitates student digital literacy standards, both as an integrated curriculum activities and/or as a stand alone courses as needed. Assesses and evaluates current technology skills of faculty and work with faculty, coaches, department heads and principals to support their growth and development; Provides in-service instruction, professional development, and leadership to the faculty for uses of technology; Supports and partners with Instructional Coaches to provide cohesive and consistent instructional support of the use of digital tools for quality teaching and learning Conducts training sessions and distributes articles and information as needed to expand skill sets and knowledge; Assists the Principal and Director of Technology of School Libraries in preparing reports and budget recommendations; Assists in the training of faculty for and execution of standardized, online testing Keeps up to date in the current uses and practices of technology in the schools Attends, subject to advance administrative approval, meetings of groups related to uses of technologies; and Other duties as assigned Desired Qualifications Valid Massachusetts license as an Instructional Technology Specialist Teacher (all grades), or a comparable license Minimum three years teaching experience, ideally in a diverse public school Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite Strong work ethic and an eagerness to improve A commitment to doing whatever it takes to support all students learning and development Excellent communication skills Compensation and Benefits This is a school-year role (184 days over a full school year), represented by the Weston Education Association, and entitled to the same salary schedule as teachers and other professional staff. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
