Job Description
OVERVIEW The Teen Center Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a continuum of activities, programs and services for club members ages 13 - 18 that align with the company mission of inspiring and enabling young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.This person will work under the guidance of the Clubhouse Director to offer programming in academic support, career exploration, mentorship, college preparatory support, job readiness, life skills and recreation.The person in this role will need to be actively engaged with the teen population and at the same time, be a role model for the teens.The goal is to create a club environment that teens will enjoy and one that promotes safety, growth, young adult/leadership readiness and independence.It is our expectation that every high school member at A.G.Gaston Boys & Girls Club will be prepared for success and leave The Club with a clear transition plan to college, work or a vocational training program.Required Two-year or Four-year College Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience Prior experience working with teens in schools, community centers, church, or youth programs.Experience in developing and implementing educational, recreational, academic support, college preparatory, work readiness, life skills and social programs.Effective communication, conflict resolution and safety and emergency preparedness skills Ability to connect with teens, parents, and community partners.Ability to oversee youth participants, staff, and volunteers.Preferred Mentorship and coaching experience Event planning and community engagement experience Creative arts and music knowledge Social media and marketing skills Safe sense of humor, approachability, and the ability to connect with teens Programming, Supervision & Safety and Resource Management Plan, schedule, and implement quality programming, services and activities that are engaging, age appropriate and of interest to members in the Teen Center aimed at preparing them for success beyond The Club.Planning, organizing, and implementing a range of program services and activities for regular drop-in members and visitors.Initiating innovative programs with the approval of the Clubhouse Director Recommending the development of service area programs Promoting and stimulating program participation.Submit recommendations to the Clubhouse Director on community engagement opportunities.Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities against target goals and identify opportunities for improvement.Recommend adjustments that may positively increase member enjoyment and engagement.Research, recommend, plan and coordinate field trips.Participate in regular staff meetings.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports reflecting all activities, attendance, participation, and feedback.Proactively engage the BGCA website for programming ideas, information, manuals in enhancement and promotion of the Teen Center.Provide ongoing supervision for members.Ensure safety by setting clear expectations on safety and behavioral guidelines and making sure every member understands their roles and responsibilities.Provide supervision and direction to Program Volunteers while in your assigned program area(s), encouraging open communication and promoting a culture of accountability where everyone looks out for safety.Enforce policies consistently and fairly, being sure not to demonstrate favoritism.Address conflicts or disruptions immediately to prevent escalation.Foster an environment where feedback and problem-solving is welcome among staff, members, and parents.Have a contingency plan for emergencies or unexpected situations.Ensure systems are in place to responsibly maintain and preserve the Teen Center and equipment/materials/supplies therein, ensuring compliance with organization policies.Manage assigned program area and ensure a productive work environment, maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good order.Recommend requisitions, as necessary, controlling expenditures against monthly supply budget.Always ensure a healthy and safe environment.Job Type:Part-time Pay:$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Work Location:In person.
