Temporary Decal Associate Working at East Fork East Fork began in 2010 as one potter throwing pots and filling a wood-fired kiln on an old tobacco farm in the mountains of North Carolina. Position Description The Decal Department translates original design into finished ceramic surfaces through skilled manual application. The team executes decal application with precision, consistency, and aesthetic integrity while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards. This department sits at the intersection of design, craft, and manufacturing and is responsible for protecting artistic intent while scaling it into repeatable production. Terms of Employment This temporary contract is for a term of three months from the start date of employment. The terms of this employment can be revoked or changed at any time for any reason. Responsibilities Decal Inventory & Materials Management Maintain organized decal library and stock system Track quantities and usage rates Flag low inventory and initiate reorders with Production Scheduler Store decals under proper environmental conditions Maintain labeling, lot tracking, and version control Decorating Kiln Operations Load decorated ware safely and efficiently Unload fired ware and stage for inspection Follow firing schedules and stacking protocols Maintain kiln logs and firing records Monitor kiln performance and flag irregularities Ensure safe operation procedures are followed at all times Quality Control Inspect decorated wares before and after firing for defects Ensure line weight, color density, and placement match spec Identify defects before pieces advance downstream Maintain rejection and defect logs Throughput & Workflow Meet daily and weekly production targets Coordinate all work with Production Scheduler Optimize station layout and workflow efficiency with a spirit of continuous improvement Stage decorated ware for firing in correct sequence Studio Stewardship Maintain clean, organized stations Properly store decals and materials Follow safety and materials-handling protocols Estimated Weekly Hours First Shift 8am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday Classification This position is full time, temporary, non-exempt.
