Job Description
JOB Implements a stormwater quality monitoring program, including water sample collection, for the City of Bloomington’s stormwater system using knowledge of sampling best practices. Sampling activities must comply with the IDEM-approved Quality Assurance Project Plan for this project. The following are essential duties for this position, performed with or without reasonable accommodation: PrimaryCollects surface water samples from the City’s stormwater system.Reviews and analyzes data from stream sampling to inform recommend actions for CBU to reduce pollutants.Reports findings to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) following the quality assurance plan developed by City of Bloomington Utilities.Communicates sampling results to CBU, IDEM, and other interested parties.Analyzes sampling data using GIS to identify potential pollutant sources.SecondaryAssists the MS4 Program Coordinator and MS4 Inspector with outfall inspections.Assists the MS4 Program Coordinator and MS4 Inspector with inspections of privately-owned post-construction stormwater infrastructure.Engages in public outreach and education related to MS4 program initiatives. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Difficulty of WorkThis position involves regular walking, standing. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching and moving equipment up to 30 lbs.Will often work outdoors in various weather conditions, 1-6 hours per shift.Personal Work RelationshipsIncumbent will interact with MS4 staff, Dillman Laboratory staff, and other Environmental Division staff while carrying out duties. The incumbent may also respond to questions from the public.
