Position Description The Recreation Division eliminates barriers through responsive, exceptional recreation services. We operate over 50 recreation facilities (community centers, teen centers, pools, school-based learning centers, environmental learning centers, and boating and sailing centers) and provide opportunities for people to play, learn, and lead healthy, active lives. Our programs and events include fitness and athletics, licensed childcare and preschool, swimming and boating, youth development and job preparation, academic enrichment, and more -- including programs designed for older adults and people with disabilities, as well as grant and partnership programs designed and implemented with immigrant and refugee communities. With nearly 300 regular employees and a budget of nearly $40 million annually, Recreation is a major operation with significant impact on the communities we serve. In addition to our current operations, we also strive to constantly improve the ways we serve Seattle’s residents, specifically through implementation of the innovation in our facility staffing and programming approaches and learning from national best practices and quality standards. This position will report to the Sr. Recreation Specialist Seattle Parks and Recreation, Specialized Programs is excited to announce that we are hiring Recreation Attendants for our youth summer programs. This summer Specialized Programs is running day camps and overnight camps for youths with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Must be 18 years or older. Summer Programs Will Run Weekly Monday June 29 - Friday Aug 21, 2026 (No Programs July 3rd). Hours Vary And May Be At a Different Site Week To Week Day camps will take place Mondays through Fridays at either Ravenna Park or Seward Park - Staff shift: 9:00am-3:00pm daily Overnight camps will take place Tuesdays through Fridays at Camp Long - Staff shift: 12:00pm on Tuesday - 3:00pm on Friday. This position will report to the Sr. Recreation Specialist Job Responsibilities Supporting groups of youths with disabilities, including responsibility for their care and safety. Assisting in planning and implementing daily activities for participants, such as sports, games, nature walks, arts and crafts, classes, etc. Ensuring that participants' needs are being met and that they are included and enjoying themselves! Performing other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned. Part of the responsibilities that you may be asked to do include: Toileting / changing diapers / cleaning up participants of all genders. Feeding participants unable to feed themselves. Assisting participants who use wheelchairs, including transfers. Helping participants who may have behavioral challenges. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Great interpersonal skills Some experience working in a recreational/educational program setting Willingness to work evenings, overnight, and early mornings The ability to pass a background check The ability to maintain records, be creative, use good judgment in problem-solving, and have good attendance American Red Cross Multi-Media First Aid Card and CPR certification within 30 days of employment Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities: Experience in a recreation setting Experience working with youth Experience working with people with disabilities Additional Information Please note this job advertisement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
