Overview TransitAmerica Services Inc. is currently seeking a Traction Electrification System (TES) Trainee in Menlo Park, CA to join our team. The pay rate for this position is $51.30 per hour. Duties And Responsibilities This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. This is a hands-on, field-based position designed to develop the next generation of TES Journeymen through a structured training program; the full training program is a 2-year program consisting of four 6-month steps. The duties and responsibilities listed below are inclusive of all the training and will be progressive as time in training increases. Must be willing to abide by and execute all requirements of the Trainee program to achieve Journeyman status. Maintain the safety of yourself, your crew, and the public while working on railroad property and in energized environments. Comply with all State and Federal regulations, safety and railroad policies, rules, and procedures, and quality requirements. Participate in Pre and Post shift briefings, including review of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Task Hazard Analysis (THA) during shift when required. Perform routine and emergency maintenance on Overhead Contact System (OCS) and Traction Power Substations (TPS) components at elevations above the grade or at grade. Work under the direction of TES Journeymen and Foremen to support daily O&M activities. Assist with planned and emergency isolation and restoration of TES Systems to allow for scheduled maintenance or construction. Identify and report system deficiencies and service issues. Respond to emergencies and routine events as directed. Must safely operate hi-rail vehicles, bucket trucks, boom trucks, and specialized TES equipment, while effectively utilizing tools such as power tools, cable cutters, and saws. Assist with operation of test equipment, substation gear, disconnects and placement of protective grounds as directed by TES Journeyman. Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, in all weather conditions and at elevated heights. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Ability to obtain and maintain the following qualifications: General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), Electrical Operating Instructions (EOI), On-Track Safety (OTS), and Track and Time (T&T) within the training program time. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Class B CDL. Must possess or have the ability obtain boom truck (crane) and rigging certifications within 90-days. Experience in rail, electrical or utility or similar. General Experience within the Construction Industry, preferred. Pre-Employment Requirements Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position. Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position. This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
