Job Description Springfield Cancer Connection Thrift Shop Manager Position Title:Springfield Thrift Shop Manager FLSA Status:Exempt Work Schedule:35 hoursper week, Tuesday through Saturday Reports to:Executive Director Benefits:Paid time off, health insurance, medical leave, paid holidays, and a caring community, opportunity to offer hope.Job Summary:The Springfield Thrift Shop Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Springfield Cancer Connection Thrift Shop operations, including but not limited to sales and budgeting, staff supervision and development, customer and donor relations and service, volunteer recruitment and supervision, as well as oversight for intake, pricing, and sales of donated merchandise and the safe disposal of unused merchandise.Immediate Supervisor:Executive Director Key Responsibilities and Duties: Manage the daily operations of the Springfield Cancer Connection Thrift Shop. Develop promotional material and advertising copy and conducting sales promotion activities. Recruiting, training, scheduling, motivating and supervising staff and volunteers. Manage the soliciting, sorting, cleaning, pricing, stocking, arranging and rotating merchandise and manage the re-donation of items not retained for sale. Establish and conduct basic accounting and cash handling procedures, make bank deposits, and report financial information to the Cancer Connection Executive Director and bookkeeper. Oversee store safety and maintenance and implement changes as needed. Manage pricing, hanging, and sorting clothing and perform other necessary tasks for the best sales and profits without negating shop's or organization's community image. To appropriately and professionally interact with customers and donors. Develop and implement policies and procedures for store operation in collaboration with the Cancer Connection Executive Director. Hiring and supervising staff in collaboration with the Cancer Connection Executive Director. Participate in strategic and budget planning and contribute to the development of organizational and department policies, forms and procedures, as it pertains to the Springfield Thrift Shop and/or the whole organization.Requirements: Passion for and commitment to the mission of Cancer Connection. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. Five (5) years of retail sales experience and three (3) years of supervisory experience Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with co-workers, customers, volunteers, vendors, and the public in a professional and polite manner. Excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of effective pricing and presentation of merchandise. Bilingual (Spanish) Fluency with retail systems, register programming, and accounting spreadsheets. Experience setting standards for customer service Experience operating or managing a similar retail store. Experience supervising, scheduling, and managing employees and volunteers. Ability to collaborate well with people and be prepared to deal with potentially difficult individuals from time to time. Knowledge of clothing brands and prices. Ability to set goals/timelines and meet those deadlines.Preferred Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to act proactively and be self-motivated. Adaptable to change. Ability to serve as an example to volunteers and employees. Ability to delegate responsibilities and to oversee their proper completion. Multilingual Knowledge of POS systems (Square) and accounting spread sheets. Advanced knowledge of clothing brands, antiques, art, housewares, jewelry and prices. Ability to interact with co-workers, participants, volunteers, board members, donors, and the general public in a professional and kind manner.Physical Demands/Requirements/Working Conditions:Standing and Walking:This role requires standing and walking for almost the entire shift, often for 8hours.Lifting and Carrying:often ranging from 25 to 50 pounds.Active Movement:The job requires frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling to organize shelves, access low storage, or clean.Reaching and Stretching:Reaching above shoulders or stretching to arrange inventory and merchandising displays.Manual Dexterity:Frequent use of hands to handle products, operate POS systems, and use tools like box cutters.Environmental Exposure:During donation days, the manager may work outside in a variety of weather conditions Vision and Communication:Specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, and depth perception) are required to check merchandise, while constant talking and hearing are necessary for team communication and customer service.The physical environment is a store retail setting that is sensitive to individuals who are experiencing cancer-related health concerns, bereavement and compromised immune systems.This position will often connect with participants and caregivers who are experie
