Intern with TimeBank Boulder What if an hour of your time was worth the same as a lawyer’s, a mechanic’s, or a musician’s? At TimeBank Boulder, we believe everyone’s time has equal value. If you’re curious about alternative economies, community engagement, grassroots marketing, or nonprofit work, this internship offers hands-on experience inside a living model of mutual aid. Who We Are Skillshare, operating as TimeBank Boulder (TBB), is a 501(c)(4) organization founded in 2003. We connect neighbors along the Colorado Front Range in a mutual aid network where time is the currency . All skills and services are valued equally. For every hour you spend helping another member, you receive one TimeCredit(TC). You can then exchange that TC to get help from a different member with something else. Services exchanged in our network include: Transportation Music lessons Companionship Website management Tech help Sewing Cooking Household support Video production And even private investigation TBB is also part of the hOurworld network, a worldwide association of timebanks, allowing you to trade with timebanks all over the world! What You’ll Do You will actively participate in and help strengthen a real community economy. Potential responsibilities include Becoming a TBB member and completing TimeCredit exchanges to understand the member experience Attending board and committee meetings and taking minutes Assisting with graphic design and social media outreach Identifying and cultivating potential community partnerships Working with the Member Services Committee to engage current members Helping plan and attend marketing and member events You will leave understanding how community-based systems function from the inside. This is a hybrid position, must have your own transportation. Compensation You will earn TimeCredits for all hours spent supporting TBB. These credits can be used to request services from fellow members — from practical help to creative collaboration. If you move to another hOurworld timebank location, your credits move with you. Some strong skills you could gain include: Community organizing experience — helping bring people together around mutual aid, local connection, and shared resources. Event planning — organizing documentary nights, outreach booths, member meetups, or community collaborations. Marketing & social media experience — creating flyers, newsletters, social posts, recruitment messaging, and community engagement campaigns. Nonprofit and grassroots organizing insight — learning how member-led organizations operate differently from traditional businesses. Networking and partnership building — connecting with local businesses, universities, nonprofits, and neighborhood groups. Leadership and initiative — because small community organizations often give interns meaningful autonomy and creative input. Communication and conflict-resolution skills — working with diverse personalities, ages, and backgrounds. Experience with alternative economies and mutual aid systems — learning about reciprocity, local resilience, and non-cash exchange systems. Resume-building civic engagement experience — showing future employers or graduate programs that you worked directly in community impact work. Practical project management — balancing outreach, member support, scheduling, and collaborative projects.
