Job Description
JOB Investigates and designs solutions for traffic issues; Acts as liaison between consultant engineers, contractors, and the City on construction projects; prepares and directs preparation of construction plans, specifications, and estimates on general and traffic related projects; performs field visits to monitor the performance of consultant engineer and/or contractor; reviews subdivision construction plans and contract documents for compliance with City standards; reviews commercial development construction plans and contract documents for compliance with City standards; consults with other divisions on traffic related items; plans, schedules, coordinates and conducts construction activities to conform with needs and budgetary constraints; responds to citizens' concerns regarding traffic and engineering related items; reviews traffic impact studies, temporary traffic control plans, and transportation-related aspects of special events and development projects; occasionally attends civic meetings and presents technical reports. May be exposed to changing weather and construction hazards during monitoring and inspection procedures; works outside in all types of weather; works in manholes and trenches/ditches; is exposed to constant and extreme noise, dust/mites, mechanical hazards, temperature swings, heights and cold weather; works in warehouse and storeroom. Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be available to work overtime as needed. Must be available to work extended hours as needed. Position may be considered essential during emergency situations. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION This position requires 100% on-site work. Texas Professional Engineering Registration required, registration in another state is acceptable, but must obtain Texas Professional Engineering Registration within first six months of employment. Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), or Road Safety Professional (RSP) is preferred.Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver’s License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
