Job Description
THE POSITION Start an exciting career as a Traffic Signals Supervisor with the Department of Transportation. This role gives you the chance to help keep travel safe and efficient across busy communities. You will guide important engineering work that supports traffic signals and safety systems. Your leadership will help improve the daily travel experience for the public. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position provides leadership for traffic signal operations, engineering reviews, and safety activities across the district. The role ensures that traffic studies, project designs, and signal systems meet safety standards and support efficient travel. As a Traffic Signals Supervisor, you will perform the following duties: Plan Review: Examine traffic signal plans, safety studies, and permit submissions Project Oversight: Coordinate traffic projects and participate in reviews, meetings, and field work Technical Support: Provide guidance to staff, municipalities, and partner agencies Field Activities: Conduct inspections, quality checks, and on-site evaluations System Management: Maintain traffic signal records, databases, and asset systems Public Communication: Prepare responses, assist with outreach, and support information requests Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS) Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,736 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Traffic Control Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or Two years of technical experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License. You must meet the PA residency requirement .
