Job Description
JOB The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Training Officer 1 for the NEVADA YOUTH TRAINING CENTER (NYTC) a 64-bed staff secure facility for male youth ages 14 to 18 located in Elko, NV. Elko is a growing, progressive small city with an exceptional quality of life. Incumbent will manage and coordinate the training for NYTC staff. Duties of the Training Officer 1 supervising and conducting training sessions; prepare course descriptions, develop curriculum, and deliver trainings; serve as liaison to the Division of Human Resources on training needs and requirements; conduct training needs assessments, analyze results and make recommendations; design and implement employee development programs; participate and conduct safety and other investigations as needed; ensure facility training compliance with relevant federal and state regulations, and DCFS and NYTC training policies. This is a full-time position with an anticipated work schedule of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. DCFS together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION General knowledge of: adult learning theory and methods of presentation; principles of lesson plan development; the use of various instruction methods and lesson plan requirements; current learning technologies and various instructional methods; class coordination and logistics. Ability to: relate and interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds for the purpose of instruction and career development; prepare and present a variety of oral and written reports; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of training providers; operate a personal computer and a variety of software programs.
