Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join high-impact engineering team building next-generation intelligent systems reshaping the future of mobility and automation. This role is located in McLean, VA through 100% full onsite presence . The Transportation Engineer will support advance simulation, traffic operations research, AI-driven modeling, and data-driven analysis to shape the future of transportation system performance & safety. Responsibilities of the Transportation Engineer include: Develop, calibrate, & validate microscopic/mesoscopic traffic simulation models to assess advanced mobility and CAV/V2X strategies Analyze simulation outputs & large datasets to assess system performance, generate insights, & support decision-making Support research on traffic signal operations, control strategies, & intelligent transportation applications Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, resolve challenges, & contribute to system documentation & technical reports Create synthetic datasets using Generative AI methods & provide technical support to industry, academic, & government stakeholders Qualifications of the Transportation Engineer include: Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering (PhD preferred) Knowledge of CAV, Intelligent Transportation Systems, & traffic operation management 2+ years of experience with traffic simulation software (VISSIM, TransModeler) 1 year of experience in AI/ML model development for predictive analytics Experience with traffic signal operations & control strategies Able to calibrate & validate simulation models Proficient in at least 1 programming language Active Public Trust clearance Compensation for the Transportation Engineer includes: Salary: $80,000-$110,000 depending on experience Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, Holidays, PTO, sick leave as required by law
