American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Hilo, Hawaii. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/22/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Jun 22, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Flex Pool Night position in Hawaii, floating across medical and surgical units, with a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active HI RN license required. Details Hospital-based position floating between Medical, Laulima (Surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular units Medical unit has 77 beds, Laulima unit has 18 beds, and Cardiovascular unit has 15 beds Adult med-surg and step-down patient population Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit: Medical 1:6 (days/evenings) and 1:8 (nights), Laulima 1:6, Cardiovascular 1:4; ratios may vary due to unexpected staffing changes Procedures include wound vac management and chest tube care Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system used 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM Scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation week 13-week contract Requirements Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment; must apply upon acceptance if not currently held Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Required certifications: BLS/BCLS and ACLS Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC Documented proof of immunity required; medical and religious exemptions will not be accepted in lieu of proof Additional Information Float RN role covering Medical, Laulima, and Cardiovascular units, with Cardiovascular floating occurring on rare occasions Unit-specific orientation is provided for each assigned floor All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of their assignment; this appointment is held at Hilo Employee Health and attendance is mandatory Travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before their Monday start date to complete the Employee Health appointment on Friday morning Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs) required American Traveler Job ID #P-704441.
