American Traveler is seeking a travel Home Health Physical Therapist for a travel job in Wailuku, Hawaii. Job Description & Requirements Specialty Physical Therapist Discipline Therapy Start Date 06/08/2026 Duration: 16 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 5x8hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: Jun 8, 2026 Length: 16 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of home health experience for a travel assignment serving the island of Maui and potentially neighboring Hawaiian islands. Details Home health setting serving a geriatric patient population (kupuna) across Maui Occasional floating to cover Oahu, Kauai, and/or the Big Island may be required, with all travel expenses covered Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00–16:30) Productivity requirement of 25 units per week Primary documentation system is MatrixCare; HomeCare HomeBase experience is preferred OASIS documentation is a core component of this role 16-week contract Requirements Minimum 1 year of recent home health physical therapy experience required More than 3 months of OASIS documentation experience required Current BLS (AHA) certification required Active Hawaii PT license required; license pending will be considered if application is in progress at time of consideration Proficiency in geriatrics, neurology, and orthopedics required Experience with home health-specific skills including adaptive/assistive devices, gait training, functional mobility, and patient/family education required Experience with post-op spinal surgery, total hip and knee replacement rehab required Experience with cognitive disorders, dementia/Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and post-stroke rehabilitation required Experience with cardiopulmonary conditions including COPD, CHF, CABG, MI, PVD, emphysema, and cystic fibrosis required Familiarity with OASIS assessments, plan of care development, and goal-setting required Strong time management skills required Closed-toed shoes required; scrubs in any color accepted Additional Information Responsibilities include PT evaluation, treatment, home exercise program development, OASIS assessments, reassessments, discharge planning, and patient/family education Candidates are expected to identify environmental barriers and address safety and injury prevention within the home setting Experience with wound care, lymphedema management, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and neurodevelopmental technique (NDT) is preferred First-time travelers are welcome to apply This is a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful island setting while serving an underserved elderly population American Traveler Job ID #P-704621.
